Tricolor TV has told about the main principles of commercial television

At «GS Summit: Investments, technologies, partnership and content for telecasting» held on 18-19 November at «Ambassador» Hotel, the largest Russian operator of digital television Tricolor TV shared the main principles of commercial television.

On 18-19 November 2014 GS Summit: Investments, technologies, partnership and content for telecasting« — the main TV event in St.Petersburg was held at «Ambassador» Hotel.

Mikhail Goryachev, Chief Content Officer of the biggest Russian operator of digital television Tricolor TV was present among the eminent speakers — specialists with long-term experience of project management in digital television in the regions of Europe, Russia, Middle East, India, Latin America and Africa.

The main topic of the summit in the current year was announced «Monetization of content and additional types of servicing». What are the drivers for connection to a Pay TV operator? What must the packages consist of? And how important is it to be one step ahead? Mikhail raised all these questions at the business meeting, having enumerated five principles of commercial television.

«We attentively watch development of Tricolor TV, and want to take over their experience in many things, — Numan Nabi Ahmed, Director General of The Brand Group, Effective Media Entertainment (Pvt) Ltd and Cable Media Group shares, — Despite the fact that we are a digital cable operator, the principle of development is similar in many things. There is no satellite television in Pakistan, and we are the first legal platform in cable television. And we are trying now to achieve the same success in the speed of digitization of the country as Tricolor TV. In three years we plan to sell a million receivers. In four years we want to reach the level of 1 mio subscribers. We plan to introduce HD receivers straight away, because the premium segment has the equipment supporting broadcasting in HD format»

The Brand Group is among five biggest companies of Pakistan. At the business meeting, Numan Nabi Ahmed gave illustrative examples why their country is today open to innovations, and the official market is free. He did not fail to mention the obstacles which can arise on the way of innovators in digital television either.

The topic of current importance was also touched upon by Ralf Zibenaler, Director for Operations and Business of MultiChannels Asia, the biggest company of independent Pay TV in the Asian-Pacific Region. Now they have the age of active development of social TV, this is putting the strip of social news directly on the screen of the TV set. It is also called L-screen, because a twit strip is located on the left and a context banner advertising or information about the services provided by operators is located on the bottom. Such approach allows the viewers to discuss on-line the content of the TV channel, on the one hand, and to include their messages for partner companies into the twit strip, on the other hand. The idea is interesting for implementation in Russia too.

For the first time, GS Summit was held by GS Group two years ago and gathered participants from over 15 countries, from South-East Asia to South America.

Thanks to this event, suppliers of content and technological solutions can not only exchange experience and ideas, but also agree on cooperation, and for representatives of the state structure and press this is an excellent possibility to define more precisely all moments interesting for them in development of the telecommunication market.
